Current Narrative:
As required in Section 427 of GEPA, each applicant provided a description of the agency’s process to ensure equitable access to and participation in the WIOA Title II adult education program for students, teachers, and other program beneficiaries with special needs. LCTCS has approved state policies that provide for equal opportunity for all qualified persons without regard to disability in the recruitment of, admission to, accessibility to, participation in, treatment in, or employment in the programs and activities operated and sponsored by the Louisiana Community and Technical College System.
At the state level, all expended AEFLA funds for leadership activities, including professional development and technical assistance, are inclusive of GEPA requirements. The State takes into account measures for ensuring equal access, providing accommodations, including inclusive instructional strategies, and allowing for multiple modes of communication and training. Adherence to GEPA is monitored on a regular basis through technical assistance visits and/or on-site visits. Monitoring of GEPA includes, but is not limited to, reviews of enrollment data, intake processes, assessment practices, classroom instruction, hiring practices, and personnel training. Professional development opportunities ensure that faculty and staff of AEFLA-funded programs are exposed to materials and processes that align with GEPA. Because of these efforts at the State, all faculty and staff are aware of and able to implement the necessary supports for those with special needs whether they be students or program personnel.
LCTCS approved state policies are mandates for the LCTCS state office and all programs and activities funded by LCTCS, inclusive of WIOA Title II grantees.
