o. 2. How a broad range of assistive technology services and devices will be provided to individuals with disabilities at each stage of the rehabilitation process and on a statewide basis
Current Narrative:
Procedures are followed that require OVR Counselors to inquire or assess throughout the rehabilitation process whether a consumer requires assistive technology services and/or devices to reduce or eliminate an impediment to education or employment. At the initial comprehensive evaluation of the client and determination of needs, assistive technology demand is an integral component of the profiling process. If it is determined that assistive technology is required, steps are taken to collaborate with the appropriate entities facilitating the provision of the materials, tools, equipment or prostheses, whatever the need might be. In the case of the latter, collaboration is ensued with the LBJ Medical Center to assist with the medical aspect of the fitting process.
