a. 2. D. Describe the State policies and procedures to provide Rapid Responses in cases of natural disasters including coordination with FEMA and other entities.
Current Narrative:
National Disaster Rapid Response - Louisiana has developed a comprehensive and well-tested disaster response and recovery plan. Rapid Response is a critical component to this plan. LWC works closely with the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP) and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to coordinate Rapid Response activities in cases of natural disasters. LWC maintains two Mobile Workforce Centers (MWC) operated by Rapid Response staff. In the event of a natural disaster resulting in job loss or other interruption of employment, the MWC units can be deployed immediately, anywhere across the state to provide services when and where needed. These units are essentially local offices on wheels, equipped with computer work stations, printers and device-charging hubs. They operate on generators with dual Wi-Fi and satellite communication redundancies. Once a natural disaster has been declared, Rapid Response is ready to roll.
