Current Narrative:

Through the MOU with the Office of Citizens with Developmental Disabilities (OCDD) within the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH), LRS maintains collaborative efforts to ensure sharing of resources. The LRS - OCDD collaboration allows for identification of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities who are eligible for vocational rehabilitation service. The goal is to provide these eligible OCDD consumers with employment services to pursue competitive employment in integrated settings. LRS accepts referrals of OCDD consumers and provides rehabilitation services to eligible LRS consumers to assist with achieving suitable employment outcomes through informed choice of available vendors.

In addition, the LRS Director serves on the Louisiana Developmental Disabilities Council (LaDDC). This participation gives LRS a voice to provide input and direction regarding employment services to assist individuals with developmental disabilities to pursue and maintain competitive integrated employment. Through connections with individual and agency members of the DDC, LRS engages in information and referral sharing to guide consumers through the employment service system.
