Current Narrative:
Annually, LRS reviews established policy, procedures, and activities within our administration with the goal to coordinate the comprehensive system of personnel development with personnel development under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). These objectives include maintaining the state interagency agreement between the Louisiana Rehabilitation Services (LRS) and the Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) for the systematic transition for Louisiana’s youth with disabilities. Additionally, our objectives include increasing LRS and LDOE employee awareness and knowledge of Pre-Employment Transition Services for eligibility and to identify potentially eligible students. The interagency agreement also defines how LRS and LDOE collaborate together for cross training, technical assistance, and service delivery to eligible students while working with stakeholders to establish local level partnerships. LRS staff conduct presentations with multiple levels of school administrators and personnel to provide information on services and how collaboration and cooperation help mutual students served. LRS is also asked to participate in Transition, Career, and College Fairs conducted by local educational agencies statewide. LRS Executive staff are also asked to present on Pre-Employment Transition Services and Vocational Rehabilitation during statewide conferences and conventions conducted by LDOE.
