Current Narrative:
Since the implementation of WIOA, DVR has worked to expand transition services and pre–employment transition services, youth and students with disabilities and has developed strategies that have enabled DVR to fully expand the pre-employment transition services set-aside. DVR has expanded pre-employment transition services to potentially eligible students with disabilities. To achieve this DVR will:
DVR agrees that improving transition and pre-employment transition services is an ongoing effort.
- DVR is adding two new Youth Coordinator positions within its Youth and Transition Services Unit. This represents a significant expansion of available staff resources to improve and expand VR services for students with disabilities
- DVR will continue to work toward improving collaboration and stakeholder engagement in order to improve student access to higher quality transition services.
- DVR will identify opportunities to provide pre-employment transition services more efficiently and continue to improve their effectiveness.
- DVR will develop a curriculum framework to identify where a student is currently related to pre-employment skills and abilities, in order to guide the nature and scope of pre-employment transition the student may need, and share this resource with staff, parents, education, and other stakeholders.
