Current Narrative:
Washington State is not pledge state, however we continue to serve ABAWDs. Washington State requests a waiver from Food Nutrition Services (FNS) annually, our current wavier began February 1, 2024 and will expire in January 31, 2025. Washington State continues to collaborate and remain in conversation with FNS regarding our annual waiver and we are confident there are no concern with our annual requests.
In Washington State ABAWD’s living in King County which is our only mandatory area, must work or participate in work-related activates, if they are not working or do not have approved work exemptions.
We provide the best customer service to our ABAWD clients and build capacity to ensure accurate case processing. Washington understands and acknowledges that we are prepared to serve any at-risk ABAWD who wants to participate in E&T.
Washington’s State Food Policy Program administers ABAWD policy in collaboration with the Basic Food Employment & Training Program (BFET).
