Established by Governor Jim Justice and the West Virginia Legislature, Jobs & Hope WV aims to address the substance use disorder crisis through a statewide collaboration of agencies to provide linked services to participants with the goal of “putting West Virginians to work.” Jobs & Hope WV is for individuals in recovery who are education and career ready; however, programs through Jobs & Hope WV are available to all West Virginians who have a barrier to employment. Participants must be 18 years of age and older, a resident of West Virginia, have employment as their long-term goal, have a barrier to employment, have been identified as ready for career training or job placement, are committed to maintaining recovery, and have negative drug screening results. Through Jobs & Hope WV, participants are eligible to receive ongoing support from a Jobs & Hope Transition Agent, opportunities for paid work experience, free training and education, transportation assistance, childcare assistance, and assistance in eliminating all barriers to employment. Participants who are veterans can be co-enrolled receiving Individualized Career Services (ICS) from JVSG staff as well as services from Jobs & Hope WV to take advantage of both program’s resources. Jobs & Hope WV is funded annually by the West Virginia Legislature using state tax dollars.
