Current Narrative:

Ohio’s seven SCSEP operators will continue to cultivate partnerships with Ohio’s twelve Area Agencies on Aging (AAA) and Older Americans Act (OAA) funded service providers. These partnerships will provide opportunities for cross referrals of eligible SCSEP participants, the designation of aging network sites as host agencies and sharing of training opportunities. One SCSEP operator is planning an annual senior fair in the spring, where various partners in the aging network, including the AAAs, will be present to offer information, referrals and services to attendees.    Vantage Aging will utilize several home delivered meal services as host agencies for community service assignments.   Some SCSEP offices will utilize AmeriCorps Senior volunteers to assist in training SCSEP participants in work readiness skills.  Goodwill will utilize the Area Agency on Aging in Richland county as a host agency.

Aging network partners in Ohio will support SCSEP participants with nutrition, in-home care, transportation, disease prevention and health promotion, and caregiver support programs and services. OAA services are targeted to populations with the greatest economic and social needs.  In FFY2022 (10/01/2021 – 9/30/2022), OAA funds coupled with State and local resources served more than 516,000 older Ohioans, including approximately 18% minority older adults and 21% rural older adults who received services where demographics information is required at time-of-service initiation, and more than 4,700 registered family caregivers.  All Ohio SCSEP operators include supportive services as part of their program offerings and will rely on Area Agencies on Aging and other OAA providers to deliver many of these needed supportive services to SCSEP participants.
