b. 2. The State’s long-term strategy for engaging employers to develop and promote opportunities for the placement of SCSEP participants in unsubsidized employment. (20 CFR 641.302(e)) (May alternatively be discussed in the State strategies section of strategic plan.)
Current Narrative:
Louisiana will continue building sustainable relationships with agencies and organizations to promote opportunities for the placement of SCSEP participants in unsubsidized employment. In this effort, Louisiana will identify and understand the needs of potential employers while effectively communicating the benefits of hiring SCSEP participants. Sub-grantees will engage with businesses and organizations in the community by developing relationships with key decision-makers, HR professionals, and industry associates to understand their workforce needs and discuss potential opportunities for SCSEP participants. The implementation of a comprehensive strategy that focuses on building strong relationships with employers, understanding their needs, and promoting the benefits of hiring an SCSEP participant, will enhance the placement of SCSEP participants in unsubsidized employment while fostering long-term partnerships within the community. Sub-grantees collaborate with training and educational institutions to assist participants in resume writing and interviewing skills. Offering additional training and up-skilling programs to SCSEP participants will ensure they possess the skills and knowledge required by employers. Tailor these programs to meet the specific needs of local industries and sectors, aligning participant skills with current market demands. It is viable for Louisiana to identify which jobs are available in the current market in which the SCSEP participant can gain the necessary training, including but not limited to computer training, job readiness, appropriate workplace behavior, specialized software training, and soft skills training. In addition, the Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics will be utilized to identify areas of highest unemployment and job placement opportunities. More importantly, Sub-grantees will work with participants to overcome barriers that could prevent their retention in unsubsidized employment through follow-up and the provision of supportive services.
