a. 3. If the SRC is not meeting the composition requirements in Section 105(b) of the Rehabilitation Act and/or is not meeting quarterly as required in Section 105(f) of the Rehabilitation Act, provide the steps that the VR agency is taking to ensure it meets those requirements.

Current Narrative:

The full SRC meets on a quarterly basis, with an additional annual planning retreat to set their goals for the year. DVR and the SRC partner closely to maintain a full and engaged council, with appropriate representation. The Executive Committee and DVR staff supporting the SRC take the lead in recruiting members, inviting prospective members to learn more about DVR and the role of the SRC, attend meetings, and engage with the Council’s committees to develop engagement prior to appointment. Business, Industry, and Labor have historically been the most challenging positions to maintain full engaged representation. DVR and the SRC engage in outreach activities, solicit support from DVR’s Business Relations Unit, and other partners to develop additional interest. Over the last several years, the SRC has focused on effective administration of their meetings and working as a high performing board to ensure the time all members spend on Council activities feels productive for all members. This has led to improved composition and engagement among Council members. As changes in personal or professional situations occur for members, this at times leads to vacancies, as is the case with 2 of the 3 vacancies above. DVR and the SRC work to recruit new members upon learning of a resignation and partner with the Governor’s Office of Boards and Commissions to support timely appointments. DVR's Communications and Relationship Manager is actively working with current members of the SRC for commendations on who might fill vacant positions and following up with these individuals to ensure understanding of the role and responsibilities of membership, as well as logistics of the application and appointment process. DVR is notified once applications are submitted to the Governor's Office of Boards and Commissions, which then allows the SRC to formally review applicants and recommend appointment to CDLE's Executive Director and the Governor. The SRC and DVR has also recently designed a postcard to support outreach to potential members that current SRC members can bring to events and share with colleagues. These postcards are in the final stages of production and will be used by the SRC once available.
