The Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) Services Portion of the Unified or Combined State Plan [13] must include the following descriptions and estimates, as required by section 101(a) of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended by title IV of WIOA:
__________
[13] Sec. 102(b)(2)(D)(iii) of WIOA
d. 2. B. Transition planning by personnel of the designated State agency and educational agency that facilitates the development and implementation of their individualized education programs;
Current Narrative:
The interagency agreement specifies how DVR and local education agencies will collaborate to implement each individualized education program, including facilitating the linkage of IEPs to other individualized service plans ensuring there are no gaps in services as the youth leave school. Currently, DVR is invited and participates in IEP meetings inconsistently. However, DVR is routinely able to access student IEPs with authorization from the student's parent or guardian. This allows DVR to coordinate and align pre-ETS and vocational rehabilitation services with goals and services identified on the student's IEP. As DVR and CDE update the interagency agreement, opportunities to improve practices and procedures that will facilitate joint planning and provision of services to students with disabilities will be explored.
