Current Narrative:
Across the state, particularly with workforce centers, cross training efforts, co-locations, and established referral processes have supported more effective service delivery across programs, yet significant gaps remain. DVR continues to see co-enrollment numbers far lower than would be expected and this demonstrates ongoing opportunity to ensure individuals are connected with multiple programs when appropriate, as well as effective coordination and documentation when individuals are co-enrolled. DVR is piloting a program with local workforce centers to hire Disability Program Navigators, who are responsible for supporting the partnership between the local workforce center and the local DVR office, while improving access to Title I and Title III of WIOA for individuals with disabilities and supporting coordinated service delivery across all WIOA programs. In addition, DVR is continuing to build relationships at the state, regional, and local levels of the workforce development system to advance DVR’s access and engagement with workforce development activities such as Registered Apprenticeship Programs, collaboration around business engagement, and resource braiding which utilizes multiple funding streams both separately and simultaneously to provide specific services.
