b. 4. A list of community services that are needed and the places where these services are most needed. Specifically, the plan must address the needs and location of those individuals most in need of community services and the groups working to meet their needs. (20 CFR 641.330)
Current Narrative:
In Colorado, community services are most needed in the rural regions where populations and resources are limited. These areas specifically lack in-home health providers, resulting in homebound, elderly, or disabled individuals unable to receive the care they need to safely remain in their homes. Similarly, the lack of adequate transportation services affects and limits these at-risk populations. Over the next four years, the State will focus on community service opportunities within these targeted in-demand industries, to include healthcare and transportation, as well as other community service needs such as maintenance technician skills. There is a high demand for qualified electricians, plumbers, maintenance workers and contractors throughout the rural regions of Colorado, which can be areas most in need of such services. . The State will partner with community colleges, businesses, and local governments to develop a plan of action that will meet the community service training needs of the participants as well as the needs of the business community, thus creating a win-win approach for everyone.
The community service agencies that may meet the needs of the SCSEP participants could include home health agencies, medical clinics, government offices, transportation service providers, automotive repair shops, and preventative maintenance companies. The goal of the State SCSEP office is to increase the number of host agencies listed above by 5% over the next four years and increase the placement of those hard to serve participants by 5%.
